The first OWL

While I admittedly would rather be at the Midland Athletic League tournament this weekend at Mohawk, I’m covering the inaugural Ohio Wrestling League Tournament at Northwood Saturday.
But it’s a big weekend for all of teams competing in the new league which will include Arcadia. McComb, Cory-Rawson, Van Buren, Stryker, Cardinal Stritch, Toledo Christian and host Northwood.
The teams from the Blanchard Valley Conference haven’t had a league tournament since 1981. Northwood last competed in a league tournament when they were part of the SLL a decade or so ago and the same for Cardinal Stritch who has been out of the Toledo City League for 10-years plus.
League tournaments are the beginning of the season. It’s the end of preparation and the start of performance. I’m very glad the schools from the OWL will get a chance to feel what it’s like to be a part of a league. And I’m happy that I’ll be there to witness the beginning of the OWL.

NOTEWORTHY:
The Bakeman is written, I need to polish it up a little bit. I will post it Monday. All the league championship results I get this weekend I will post them as soon as I get them. IF anyone is going to any of the meets and wants to submit the results email me at jamiebaker@thecourier.com.
What I will be looking for is the team scores, championship matches and consolation finals for each of the league tournament’s going on this weekend. Complete results with name of the wrestler, school and the score of the match are what I really need to post them.
Here are several stories on NW Ohio League tournaments below…
