Tough tournaments

So what’s the toughest tournament in NW Ohio?
For years I would have said the Perrysburg Invitational Tournament. The PIT is still a good tournament but it has kind of trailed off a little in recent years.
Another candidate is Waite’s Mary Kerr Invite. It’s a pretty tough field especially if you are a Division III wrestler.
I guess if I had to make a choice I’d probably opt for either Sandusky St. Mary’s Division III duals (10 matches in 2 days against some pretty good competition) or the SBC Duals (facing Clyde, Perkins, Oak Harbor, St. Mary’s and the others isn’t an easy task).
Here are a few stories I picked up yesterday. It was a slow day since no meets were held Monday night.

A tournament that is quickly becoming tougher and tougher (and hopefully continues to get stronger) is the BG Duals. There are some solid teams there. I have to agree though, for the number of teams and the competition level it is the SBC Duals. The SBC is possibly the best league in the state for wrestling as a whole. There is a ton of tradition and a ton of success oriented with those programs. The DIII Duals at St. Marys has always been tough as well, too bad it's on the same weekend as our tournament. Not only does that take away the tougher DIII teams from our field, but it also prohibits us from going. We used to go until they moved the date. A tournament to look out for in the future seems to be the Eastwood Duals on the last weekend before leagues. They have a decent field of teams and it is only the first year for the tournament. It should work out nicely for them.
